March’s meeting–National Quilt Month.
Our evening’s program will replace the “show and tell” with “Your Story”. Please bring an item or two that tells YOUR quilting story. This can be something that someone made for you, an early piece that you made, or something that you purchased. It should tell a story of how it may have influenced your life of quilting. Be creative and have fun with it!

Ladies – It’s that time of year again! Now that the rush of the Holidays is over, you’ll have more time to devote to QUILTING! You have 3 months to complete your Silent Auction item or items. Hope you’re planning or have already started your Auction item. If you have a resolution item that you could donate to the Silent Auction, you’ll be earning two credits for one item. A Win – Win situation! Remember the collection date is April 14th. Start sewing!!! The Silent Auction Committee

BOOK REVIEW by ROSE BERCHEM:
The new AQS Catalog arrived recently but no “new release” flyers. The catalog does highlight new releases with the word “new” and there are new ones in almost every category. Because we all have different interests, it makes it difficult to do a complete report.

Here are a few to check out:

  • For fat quarter lovers … Fat Quarter Winners Page 17
  • There are 4 new scrap quilt books on page 16
  • Four new books on Pg 14
  • Pg 15 New one on curves
  • New one on thread painting Pg 13
  • For appliqué people Pg 6 – 8
  • Three new ones on Sun Bonnet Sue Pg 4

It’s best if you can look thru the catalog yourselves.

Be sure to check out Pgs 37 – 41– Books Under $10.00.

Keep in mind that I need to have 6 books to qualify the order for the lowest price.

To all members: We are focusing on local advertizing. Your help is greatly appreciated. The following information can be used for your church bulletins, library newsletters, workplace calendars and any other groups to which you belong:

To the Volunteers of Operation Snuggles:

I have been an Army National Guard wife for about four years. While I am intensely proud of my husband’s service to our country, it has not gone without tremendous sacrifice on me and my boys’ part. Oftentimes, I have felt alone in this because I hadn’t met any other Army families in our city. If you’ve not lived the Army life, it is difficult to understand all the training requirements that our soldiers have to go through. There are some that think we are absolutely nuts for being part of the military! When I received our quilts for my boys, I was overwhelmed. What a phenomenal feeling it was to know that complete strangers are out there supporting our soldiers and their families. God bless each and every one of you for your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank You Letters:

Kris,

I am writing a belated Thank you for the quilts you left at the Reserve Center in Beloit, WI. The quilts were presented to us at a coming home briefing a month before our soldiers were due to come home. It meant a lot to the families to receive something as precious as this. Everyone was touched by your efforts of support. As a result of the size of our unit being so small, we are not normally recognized with anything like this.

Thank you so much for your support and thinking of our unit!  I am sorry that this “Thank you” is so late in coming to you. We were at a critical point in time when they were presented and everyone was busy making preparations for their soldiers to come home and trying to resume back to our normal lives. The families were so happy to receive a quilt! Thanks for supporting our Troops!

Thank You Letters:
Thank you to all who were involved in making the beautiful quilts for our children.  They were greatly appreciated and the children love them.
The 1-147th Family Readiness Group

Kris Lindsay,
I love Operation Snuggles.  The children of my soldiers are blessed with the love sewn into every quilt.  My sons Charlie and Sam are comforted by the quilts and use them daily.  I’ve watched the time and effort as my wife has made quilts in the past.  It is a labor of love and I thank you for all my troops and their families.  My God bless you all.
