Upcoming speakers:
June’s meeting will feature Terri Kirchner, artist, quilter and incoming president of the Wisconsin Quilt Museum. She will speak and present a trunk show on her work as well as an update on the progress of the Museum. For her fee she asks that each member bring two fat quarters, 100% cotton, quilt quality, batik fabric in color range of yellow; that can be any yellow from light yellow to yellow orange to gold, with or with out a print. Lady of the Lakes Quilt Guild in Woodruff, WI will be hosting a quilt show on Saturday and Sunday, August 7th and 8th, 2010. It will be held at the Lakeland Union High School in Minoqua, WI. For additional information, call 715-892-0229.
AQS Book Report by Rose Berchem
1. Square Magic by Michelle J. Linder – $18.87 plus postage. Start with just squares and create dozens of magical block units. Accuracy is built in..all you need are squares. They are fat-eights and fat-quarter friendly too.
2. 100 Sweet Treats By and For Quilters by Ann Hazelwood – $9.07 plus postage. This is a charming small book (6 x 4 1/2) that contains 100 recipes from some of today’s most creative quilters while you have a visual feast of their stunningly beautiful quilts.
3. Amazing Ways to Use Circles and Rays by Renae Haddadin – $18.87 plus postage. This is about easily drafting complicated designs. 80 pages plus a CD.
4. Sunflower New Quilts from an Old Favorite AQS-Edited by Linda Baxter Lasco -$18.87 plus postage. This is about the original interpretations of the traditional Sunflower block.

Operation Snuggles
The quilts needed for children listed below are for a new unit. We also need quilts for the wounded Wisconsin soldiers from the Fort Hood shooting. Please think about making wounded Soldiers’ quilts (they should be at least 70 by 86). Kris Lindsay and Kathy Doman will be collecting the quilts as well as Ye Olde School House, Material Matters, and Royce Quilting. Any sized quilt will be accepted. Freedom Quilts WI Sisters will be changing its name to The WI Memorial Quilt Project. We meet at the American Legion Post #36 at the Mutual Mall Building on Main St. in West Bend. Please continue to make single quilt blocks or gold star quilts for the families of the fallen. Blocks need to be 12 ½ inches (12 inch finished), and in red, white, and blue materials. We will resume the 4th Wednesday of the month meetings in April when the weather is nicer.
